RecTo VeRso-Dee

Each paper is the soul of the child. Dan pada tanggal 3 September 2008 lalu, saya baru saja resmi “melahirkan” sepasang “bayi kembar” bernama RECTOVERSO . And on 3 September 2008 and then, I just officially "delivered" a pair of "twin baby" named RECTOVERSO.

Inilah karya pertama saya yang mampu menghadirkan kedua wajah saya sekaligus: musik dan fiksi, album dan buku, Dee yang menulis dan Dewi Lestari yang bermusik. This is the first paper that I can face my second at a time: music and fiction, albums and books, Dee is writing and Dewi Lestari the disparities.

Rectoverso juga merupakan karya hibrida pertama di Indonesia yang memadukan kedua dunia tadi menjadi satu karya yang utuh meski terpisah secara wujud. Rectoverso is also the first hybrid in the works that incorporate both the world was becoming one of the papers intact, although a separate existence. Karena itulah, Rectoverso bukan sekadar karya, melainkan sebuah pengalaman. Therefore, Rectoverso not just paper, but an experience. Dee’s Recto Verso

Reading the story was like reading her diary. Words just cannot express my admiration for her oceanic skill in explanation. Her way to twist and turn the words and put them side by side has touched the very bottom of my heart. Perhaps she’s going too far with her recto verson, it’s like having Davinci Code to crack behind her every word. It is through reading her book, that I become emotionally out of control. The tears drop unexpectedly. Especially when it comes to ‘Aku Ada’. It’s so predictable in the beginning, typical in the middle, yet bringing tears to the climax, and leaving a sense of “letting go” in the end.

The songs are somehow too mellow. But hey, it’s Dee, she never does rock n roll or even touches any of its surface. She has her own world. Kudos to her grit!
